Top 4 Eco Beauty brands

beauty, cruelty free

As a follow up of our The Cruelty-Free challenge: What’s in my make up bag post, we thought to include a list of our Top 5 Eco Beauty brands. Want to know if you already own some of them? Read on to find out.

Whether they’re cruelty free, natural, eco-friendly, vegan or support social responsibility, this eco beauty brands were chosen under four categories: Make Up, Make up Tools, Hair and Body care. So let’s see who made the list.

Make up – Kat Von D

Kat Von D became a renowned name in the tattoo industry after her appearance on the reality tv show Miami Ink. From then on she developed her own make up line with her look in mind: vivid colors, high pigmentation and lots of deep black.  Her tattoo knowledge comes in handy when it comes to the packaging of her products and the brand has become a staple amongst beauty gurus. Kat’s known for being vegan and an animal activist, therefore all her products are not tested in animals nor they use any animal-derived ingredients.

Make up Tools – Eco Tools

A family brand owned by sisters Jen and Stacey, Eco Tools is created under the premise of offering make up brushes that are not only environmentally friendly, but are a high quality and affordable option against the market. Through sourcing recycled materials, the sisters discovered in renewable bamboo the next stage for the beauty industry. They’ve perfected their brushes and broaden their offer over the years, including hair brushes and bath & spa products with a modern look that cares for your hair and skin. All of Eco Tools brushes are cruelty free and vegan (PETA certified), use recycled materials (aluminum and plastic), are Tree free (meaning they don’t use tree paper for their packaging, using cotton and bamboo instead) and use recycled bamboo for the handles of the brushes.

Hair – Not your mother’s

Not Your Mother’s is a american brand that offers a varied range of hair products  for whatever need you have according to your hair type. Their mission is to create high end products at affordable prices. All of Not Your Mother’s products are not tested on animals, although some of their products do contain keratin (an ingredient that comes from sheep’s wool). They assure that no animals are harmed in the production of their products and also have created a NYM Naturals line in which their products are 100% of sulfates, parabens, gluten, silicones, phthalates and synthetic dyes, using plant derived ingredients, not testing on animals and using recyclable packaging.

Body – Zoella Beauty

Beauty and lifestyle vlogger Zoe Sugg has made a following of more than 13 million people interested in her life and her likes for years now. One of the most recognisable faces of YouTube, Zoe has a likeness to her that makes her approachable and a sense of style and taste that it only seems fit for her to own a beauty line. Hers is different than other vloggers brands since it focuses on body and life style products. From body lotions and scrubs to socks and beanies Zoe puts her own touch on every product from scent to packaging, making sure all the beauty products are cruelty-free.

Do you own products from any of these brands and how did you like them? From our side I’ve used Not Your Mother’s products, as well as Eco Tools and Kat Von D and have nothing but praise. Specially from Not Your Mother. They have products for every hair type and every need plus the prices are very affordable so it’s a win to know they’re also cruelty free (in the items I specifically use).
